HI WAIKIKI HALE ALOHA HOSTEL
Hostelling International USA is a non-profit membership organization. If you are not a HI member you can buy an annual ($28 adults/ $18 seniors) or daily membership ($3/day) upon check-in. If you prefer a hostel that allows drinking & long-term stay, please check out the other private hostels on the island like the Waikiki Beachside hostel (Hokondo Waikiki Beachside hostel).
Our guests play the primary role in creating a fun atmosphere at our Waikiki backpackers hostel. We primarily host 18-30 year old short term travelers who want a clean, safe "home base" to come back to after exploring our island. Every year we welcome thousands of backpackers, professionals coming to a conference, airline or cruise ship employees, students, & families from all around the world that are seeking adventure & want to meet & socialize with other guests from all around the world!
WHAT OUR YOUTH HOSTEL WAIKIKI OFFERS
Most guests realize the value we provide; the ability to cook your own meals in our kitchen, catch up with friends on FB in the lounge with our FREE -but not always perfect- WIFI, & our local, paid staff who can give you guidance on bus directions, local eats, & happy hours in Waikiki, & keep the dorms clean daily.
IS HOSTELLING RIGHT FOR YOU?
But hostelling is not for everyone! If you've never stayed in a hostel before, keep in mind we're not a "cheap hotel." Our amenities are basic & that is reflected on our rate, which is LESS than half of what the average hotel rate is in Waikiki. If you're an older traveler, or don't like walking up stairs, or are a light sleeper, or don't want to meet other people, you're more than welcome to stay, just keep in mind we don't have elevators, Waikiki is noisy in the morning with trash & tour pick ups (our alarm clocks!), we can't guarantee bottom bunks, & you'll be sharing a room with others that might be coming to the dorm late after a night out in Waikiki. Consider a private room (see link above) if the first thought of sharing space with 5 other travelers like yourself is "is my stuff safe?" or if you're not here to socialize with guests from around the world. You can always check out the Waikiki Prince Hotel which is 2 buildings down. If you want really quiet, check out the manoa hostel.
Our staff loves their job & it shows in the enthusiasm & aloha they give daily to guests, & while sometimes it can get really busy with one of us working at a time, don't be shy! just ask! Finally, to keep a level of quality that meets your expectations, we do not allow alcohol & have a 7-night maximum stay. Mahalo for considering HI Waikiki. If you're a return guest welcome back! If you were referred here by a friend, please thank them for us. If you chose our hostel because of reviews you read online, please take a moment after your stay to tell us & future guests about your experience by writing a Hostelling International Waikiki review below. After all, your ALOHA is what motivates & keeps us sharing it with others!
